Sperry Utah Engineering Laboratory Collection, 1957-1960.

The collection consists of thirteen contractor reports on the Sergeant Missile System, predominantly written by the Sperry Utah Engineering Laboratory, for either JPL, the Redstone Arsenal or the U.S. Army Rocket and Guided Missile Agency (ARGMA). One report in the collection was compiled by the U.S. Army Rocket and Guided Missile Agency, and another by the Physical Science Laboratory at New Mexico State University. All of the reports were originally classified as "Secret" or "Confidential" and eventually downgraded to "Unclassified." The covers and title pages of the reports all have black felt-tip pen markings, obscuring previous classifications. Two of the reports were originally presentations. One of the reports, titled "Sergeant Project Review," (folder 9) was a presentation given by Paul W. Vestigo, manager of the Sperry Utah Engineering Laboratory, at the Army Rocket and Guided Missile Agency, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Another report, the "Review of Sergeant Program and Sperry Utah Facilities," (folder 10) was a presentation made to Commanding General of ARGMA Brigadier General J. G. Shinkle, at the Sperry Utah Engineering Laboratory, on January 20, 1960.
